Solid rivets are the most common type of rivet. They consist of a solid cylindrical shaft with a head on one end. The head is formed by expanding the shaft with a rivet gun. Semi-tubular rivets are similar to solid rivets, but they have a shallow hole in the center of the shaft. This hole allows the rivet to be installed with less force, and it also makes the rivet more flexible.
