Clinch studs are fasteners that are installed by expanding the end of the stud into a sheet metal panel, creating a permanent and captive connection. Pin studs, on the other hand, are similar to clinch studs but have a pointed end. They are installed through a hole in the sheet metal panel and flattened to create a permanent connection.
