Set screws are a type of fastener that is used to secure a rotating part in place. They have a threaded shank that is designed to be inserted into a threaded hole, and a point that is designed to bite into the material that the screw is being set into.  Set screws are available in a variety of sizes, lengths, and materials. The most common materials for set screws are steel, stainless steel, and brass.
